About the artist

Gintaras Tadauskas is a painter whose creative drive and spiritual expression are profoundly anchored in biblical themes and concepts. In his works, he delves into evocative motifs such as a tree’s sturdy roots descending deep into the earth, birds ascending toward the sun, the metamorphosis of a caterpillar into a butterfly, and the vivid but ephemeral flight of a butterfly. The artist also discovers inspiration in the courtship dance of silver cranes—symbols that, to him, embody the essential and lasting values inherent in human life.

Tadauskas holds that elements of nature—trees, butterflies, and birds—are metaphors for the eternal. "Trees, butterflies, birds lead us to the eternal, what remains longer beyond of our short stay on earth," states Gintaras Tadauskas. Through these motifs, he seeks to remind observers of the endurance and transcendence of life’s fundamental values, even though our earthly presence is brief.

The artist practices a painting method that is distinctive yet steeped in age-old tradition. He utilizes mineral tempera, a technique that traces its roots back to the making of icons which have endured across centuries. This process requires carefully extracting minerals from stone and mixing them with egg yolk to create pigments that are both vibrant and enduring. The resulting artworks display colors that resist fading, preserving their brilliance through the ages.

Gintaras Tadauskas also incorporates watercolor paints, skillfully blending them to achieve subtlety and depth in his imagery. By combining time-honored and contemporary materials, he offers a rich visual language through which to pursue his philosophical and spiritual ideas. His paintings invite viewers to reflect upon nature, transformation, and the enduring aspects of human existence.
