"K. Česonytė’s paintings are variations on Expressionist painting: characterized by a trembling touch, energetic brushstrokes, and expressive paint textures with which she often seems to 'sculpt' figures, objects, and landscape elements. In terms of genre, the scope of her work is quite traditional. Landscapes predominate, though the artist has also painted a series of still lifes, numerous urban scenes, and the occasional stylized portrait. Yet, other aspects of K. Česonytė’s painting align her less with classical modernist art and more with the imagery of the contemporary, media-saturated world. 'My tools are the computer and virtual space,' she says. The visual imagery in her paintings derives not from reality itself, but from a virtual—or secondary—reality. For this creative artist, however, that serves merely as a springboard or a starting signal that liberates both imagination and hand. In her work, this secondary reality—or a chance motif—and the artist’s imagination most often intertwine inseparably. Images suggested by modern media are transformed into authentic visions, deeply and sensitively experienced by the painter herself."

About this artwork+

This painting shows a scene filled with various plants and a large creature that resembles a cheetah. The backgrounds are shades of green, depicting a jungle environment. Leaves of different shapes surround the cheetah, making it blend into its surroundings. Kristina Česonytė has used a simple and expressive style here. The colors are limited but effectively convey a dense, leafy jungle. The animal’s spotted coat stands out against the more muted green background. Kristina’s art seems vibrant and energetic, reflecting nature's wildness and beauty. her strokes are bold, and the outlines of the plants and cheetah are thick, adding a sense of depth and texture to the scene.
