Artwork in the room
"K. Česonytė’s paintings are variations on Expressionist painting: characterized by a trembling touch, energetic brushstrokes, and expressive paint textures with which she often seems to 'sculpt' figures, objects, and landscape elements. In terms of genre, the scope of her work is quite traditional. Landscapes predominate, though the artist has also painted a series of still lifes, numerous urban scenes, and the occasional stylized portrait. Yet, other aspects of K. Česonytė’s painting align her less with classical modernist art and more with the imagery of the contemporary, media-saturated world. 'My tools are the computer and virtual space,' she says. The visual imagery in her paintings derives not from reality itself, but from a virtual—or secondary—reality. For this creative artist, however, that serves merely as a springboard or a starting signal that liberates both imagination and hand. In her work, this secondary reality—or a chance motif—and the artist’s imagination most often intertwine inseparably. Images suggested by modern media are transformed into authentic visions, deeply and sensitively experienced by the painter herself."

About this artwork+
The painting "Happiness in Splashes" by Kristina Česonytė is vibrant and full of life. It shows a simple outline of a face. The face is serene, with closed eyes and a gentle expression. Around the face, splashes of color fill the space. Blues and greens dominate, swirling and mixing together. These colors create a sense of movement and joy. The brushstrokes are playful and free. This adds to the lively feel of the artwork. Česonytė’s style is expressive and abstract. It captures emotion more than detail. Overall, the painting feels joyful and spontaneous, like a celebration of color and form.
