"K. Česonytė’s paintings are variations on Expressionist painting: characterized by a trembling touch, energetic brushstrokes, and expressive paint textures with which she often seems to 'sculpt' figures, objects, and landscape elements. In terms of genre, the scope of her work is quite traditional. Landscapes predominate, though the artist has also painted a series of still lifes, numerous urban scenes, and the occasional stylized portrait. Yet, other aspects of K. Česonytė’s painting align her less with classical modernist art and more with the imagery of the contemporary, media-saturated world. 'My tools are the computer and virtual space,' she says. The visual imagery in her paintings derives not from reality itself, but from a virtual—or secondary—reality. For this creative artist, however, that serves merely as a springboard or a starting signal that liberates both imagination and hand. In her work, this secondary reality—or a chance motif—and the artist’s imagination most often intertwine inseparably. Images suggested by modern media are transformed into authentic visions, deeply and sensitively experienced by the painter herself."

About this artwork+

The painting depicts two stylized cats, their forms outlined in bold, swirling strokes of blue on a textured, greyish background speckled with white dots. Each cat is adorned with unique blue stripes that flow across their bodies, accentuating their muscular structure and graceful postures. The cat on the left is depicted in a seated position, its head turned slightly to the side, giving it a contemplative or poised demeanor. The cat on the right is captured in motion, possibly mid-stretch or stride, with its back arched and head directed forward. The tails of both cats curl artistically, adding a dynamic and elegant touch to their silhouettes. The use of blue hues against the neutral background creates a vivid contrast, highlighting the feline figures while also imparting a serene, almost ethereal quality to the scene.
