Daina Maslauskaitė Light (I-AM), born in 1979, is a contemporary artist who has cultivated her independent creative practice for more than twenty years. She later undertook formal studies in art, earning both a bachelor's and a master's degree from the Academy of Fine Arts. For her master’s thesis, she examined a subjective approach to holistic experience in painting, which led her to develop her own theoretical framework to guide her artistic process and work.

A central feature of Maslauskaitė’s art is her exploration of the “architecture of inner reality.” In her paintings, she investigates profound subjects such as the quest for the true self, the continuous internal dialogue with the outside world, and what she describes as the soul’s “inner kung-fu.” These ideas, reflecting her interest in the psychological and spiritual aspects of human life, appear repeatedly throughout her oeuvre.

For Maslauskaitė, the act of creating is grounded in self-purification, often pursued through meditation and autogenic techniques. By engaging in these practices, she strives to build sensitive and harmonious connections with the world, the universe, and the Creator. Maslauskaitė’s search for pictorial form is deeply intuitive, as she endeavors to merge inner and outer realities into a single, indivisible entity.
